100th TCAR Procedure at SCMSC

The vascular surgeons from SCMSC and the team at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center celebrate their 100th TCAR Procedure.

The TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) is a relatively newer procedure for treating carotid artery disease that combines elements of traditional carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and CAS. One advantage of TCAR over CAS is the utilization of the neuroprotective system, which redirects blood flow away from the brain during the procedure, reducing the risk of stroke. Additionally, TCAR is associated with a lower risk of cranial nerve injury, a potential complication of traditional CEA.
Dr Sammy Eghbalieh and Dr. Dr. Andrew Abi-Chaker celebrate with the team.
