Karina earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) from Samuel Merritt University in 2023. Her extensive volunteer work in underserved communities, including medical mission trips to Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Bolivia, profoundly influenced her understanding of healthcare disparities and the importance of cultural competence. These experiences, combined with her local volunteer work with organizations like Santa Barbara Street Medicine, have shaped her holistic approach to patient care, ensuring she considers not only medical needs but also the social and environmental factors impacting her patients’ health.
Karina has a natural affinity for the complexities of surgery and has excelled in various surgical specialties, including cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and plastic surgery. She brings expertise and compassion to every aspect of her work, whether assisting in the operating room, managing patients in the clinic, or providing comprehensive care during hospital rounds. Her ability to connect with patients while delivering high-quality care has made her a valued member of the SCMSC team.
Born and raised in Southern California, Karina takes pride in serving the diverse community she calls home. Fluent in Spanish, she strives to bridge language barriers to ensure all her patients feel understood and empowered. Outside of work, Karina enjoys exploring the vibrant restaurant scene in Los Angeles, traveling to experience new cultures, cooking dishes inspired by her adventures, and spending time near the beach, where she finds peace and inspiration.
